Ukhrawi, Where to start?

Some people want to start and get back to religion studies, but they have no idea where to start and what's the best to study. Some say, you should start with Syariah, because it touches our daily lives, but in my opinion.. that should falls 3rd in the priority list..

The first thing to learn is, not other than Arabic Language. Why?
Because it is the main key to all knowledge.

Yes, nowadays you can find translated book in English and Malay (which they are using in Singapore) so when things are easier now, is Arabic still necessary? YES! no matter how many million books were translated, we cannot run from the fact that Quran and Hadith remain in arabic. You cannot read translated Quran in your prayer ;p. And there are many words in Arabic that can never be translated in any language, if you can understand Arabic, you can understand all subjects because the original books like Tafsir, Fiqh were written in Arabic.

Besides, all Islamic subjects derived from Quran, and to understand Quran.. You need Arabic.

My second choice would be Usuluddin. You need to get know Aqidah, Believe in God and his messenger. Before you start with something which are more details (Like Syariah), maybe you can start with knowing the relationship between God and the mankind?

Third will be Syariah. I shall not explain further. You know why Syariah is important.

Forth will be Quran and Sunnah (studying hadith and the origin of Quran). So after you practice the law of Islam, you can add up by following the sunnah of the prophet (which hadith will has it all)

Fifth, Sixth and the rest is really up to you. =)
